(by Michael Hill - God's Game Plan - FCA Athlete's Bible)
"Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk-not as unwise people
but as wise-making the most of the time, because the days are evil."
- Ephesians 5:15-16 (Holman Christian Standard)
When you go into a game, you have to believe you will win. You cannot think you might win. The reality is both teams enter thinking the same thing, yet only one team will live it out. No matter how much we wish we could all end up winners, in the end, one team will lose. There are many factors that go into the outcome of a game: coaches play calling, players execution of those plays and what is seen and not seen by the officials. Another key to the final outcome of a game is the play clock. Time controls many of the games we play and we cannot put more time on the clock. What we do during this time determines the outcome of the game. So it is with life.
Our lives each have a set amount of time. We do not know how much time is left in our game of life. Yet we do know whatever we do in that amount of time is what makes up the outcome of our game. In Ephesians 5:16 we are called to make every opportunity and every minute count. The question is, "Are you doing what you need to do to make every one of those opportunities and minutes count for God?" If the answer is "no", what changes do you need to make?
Father, thank You for giving me the opportunity to live for You daily. Help me to do what You want me to do today to bring You honor and glory. Amen.
