Take a Knee

Take a Knee

“Everybody take a knee!” It’s not unusual for a coach to gather his/her team together following an intense drill or at the end of a difficult practice. As the athletes take a knee, they know the pace is about to change. Following an extended period of constant movement and intense activity, the action stops and the focus changes. Coach commands that all eyes and ears are fixed on him/her. During the next few minutes, we can anticipate that coach is going to share something important that everyone needs to hear.

The message on this church sign reminds us that we also must find time to “take a knee” with God. Everyone I know is “busy”. Careers, family and technology can consume us and much of our time. Psalm 46:10 instructs us to “be still and know that I am God”. Are you allowing God to be the “center” of your life? How long has it been since you took a knee and focused on what God has to tell you? I guarantee He’s going to share something you need to hear!
