FCA Gives Back…When It’s Needed the Most
LeAnn Phillips is grieving the loss of her nephew. The 19-year-old was found dead in his Tri-County Tech dorm room in January. When she needed it most, FCA became her support system.
As chairwoman of the Cherokee Area Leadership board, LeAnn has devoted countless hours of hard work to helping FCA succeed. She hosts many yearly team dinners for Limestone College and Gaffney High School, serves at midnight exam pancake rescue dinners, and donates generously each month to her local chapter. “LeAnn always goes the extra mile, and then some,” says Claudia Butler, Women’s Ministry director.
When the students and coaches at Limestone College heard about LeAnn’s nephew, they knew they had to do something. They benefit frequently from her kindness, so it was only natural for them to want to give back to her in her time of need. They knew only God could truly comfort her in her time of true loss, so they decided to send some prayers and cards her way.
LeAnn was touched by the outpouring of the coaches and athletes. “When you are a volunteer with FCA you go into it to serve coaches and athletes, you never expect them to turn around and serve you.”
