SC FCA 2010 PLANNING STUDY SUMMARY
During the months of March, April, and May, 2010 South Carolina Fellowship of Christian Athletes contracted with the Winkler Group in Charleston, SC, to conduct a formal planning study regarding the potential for SC FCA to move forward with a comprehensive capital campaign. Included with this letter are some of the findings and highlights of the study.
Over the course of the planning study the Winkler Group conducted 54 personal interviews with 56 individuals. These individuals represented a wide cross section of leaders, constituents, and supporters across South Carolina. Additionally, in an effort to conduct a thorough and balanced study, electronic surveys were sent out to another 148 individuals. Along with other factors, we targeted input from 204 individual’s total. Below are some of the highlights which came from the findings of the study:
83% of those surveyed said addressing the leadership vision was a high or moderate priority for the future of SC FCA.79% of those surveyed said growing the Charles Holmes Endowment was a high or moderate priority for the future of SC FCA.79% of those surveyed said they would financially support a campaign for SC FCA with a personal gift. 65% of those surveyed are in favor of moving forward with a comprehensive capital campaign to raise the necessary funds for the priorities discussed.
From these statistics, along with additional information gathered during the study, the Winkler Group provided SC FCA specific recommendations. A brief summary of these recommendations are as follows:
Based on the positive results of the planning study, SC FCA should immediately move forward with a three-year major gifts focus to address the two priorities tested in the study.SC FCA should simultaneously implement a broad based annual fund program in conjunction with the major gifts effort. The Winkler Group projects SC FCA will be able to raise as much as $500 thousand for the leadership vision and Charles Holmes endowment. SC FCA should give special consideration to incorporating gift planning into their overall development operations and create a formal planned giving program.Begin enlisting leadership and follow appropriate steps in creating a comprehensive development plan - focusing on both short and long term funding sustainability.
The study, along with specific recommendations, has been formally presented to the Executive Committee of SC FCA. As a result, more information will follow shortly. Until then, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us directly.
