LAKELANDS STUDENTS AND ADULTS ATTEND ANNUAL HIGH
SCHOOL RETREAT

FCA Huddles from Abbeville High, Dixie High, Greenwood High and Laurens Academy joined hundreds of others across the state at the recent High School Retreat. Everyone involved came together for a time of fellowship, fun, tremendous praise and worship and a healthy dose of the Word. An opportunity to make a commitment to Christ was given on Friday night with 15 first time salvations and 83 recommitments. This year’s retreat was held on March 23-25 at Garden City Chapel.

THE 2012 FCA CAMP EXPERIENCE TO OCCUR BOTH NEAR AND FAR

We are only a few weeks away from what is sure to be another exciting and life-changing camp season. This year’s camp theme is “In the Zone” and is based upon Ephesians 3:20 which says, “Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think-according to the power that works in you”. Lakelands is very excited to be offering several partnership camps right here in our area, (see chart at right). In addition, many of our coaches and athletes will be attending other camps throughout the Southeast, including locations at USC Upstate, Black Mountain, NC, and St. Simon’s Island, GA. This is a unique camp season for several campers in our area because a committed group of Captains’ Camp participants will conclude their 3-year journey with a 2 week trip to Israel! These attendees will experience Jesus in the same places where He walked while here on earth. Individuals will also be privileged to share the gospel through sports with current Israeli citizens. Please begin praying now for everyone who will be impacted through camp this summer. If you would like to afford a coach or athlete the opportunity to get “In the Zone” through a camp scholarship, please contact Amy Wurst for more details.

GOLF TOURNAMENT DRIVES IN A HOLE-IN-ONE DAY FOR FCA!

The 7th Annual Lakelands FCA Golf Classic proved to be another successful day for everyone involved. Thirty-five teams competed in this year’s tournament, along with additional support from 43 hole sponsors and numerous other event and prize sponsors. The picture perfect weather and Stoney Point’s spectacular setting provided the ideal environment for a prosperous day. At the conclusion of the event, Lakelands FCA was able to net over $22,000, with the majority of those funds being used to scholarship coaches and athletes to summer camps. A huge thanks goes out to Dan Wideman for chairing this year’s event and the entire Golf Committee. This event is an annual highlight of the Lakelands FCA Ministry, and we are grateful to all participants.

Dillon Holliday (Abbeville HS) shares his FCA story during the lunch program.

FCA PRESENCE IS NOW ON EVERY CAMPUS WITHIN THE LAKELANDS AREA!!!

Did you notice the * beside EVERY campus on our campus page? Since its inception in 2005, Lakelands FCA has had 1 God-sized goal set for our campus ministry-to have an active FCA huddle on every middle school, high school and college campus in our area. We have now met and exceeded that goal! As of 2012, we have FCA huddles meeting on 33 of those campuses and 2 groups have even formed at our elementary schools, bringing our total number of certified campuses to 35! “What a faithful God we serve and how blessed we are to have adults who have responded to the desire of the Holy Spirit to have ministry on each campus!” states Linda Tyner concerning this awesome accomplishment. Please continue to pray for the students that meet on our campuses each week and the leaders that choose to serve the Lord through our weekly huddles.
